Hakkımızda

Değişik disiplinlere açık olan yapısıyla İstanbul’un en önemli kar amaçsız kültür sanat merkezlerinden biri olan KargART, geçen sezon gerçekleştirdiği 1. KargART Toplu Video Sergilemeleri’nin devamını organize ediyor. Alternatif sanat merkezi anlayışını ve yapısını kurmaya çalışan organizasyonun duruşu, video gibi çağdaş ve dijital bir sanat dalında çalışan biz organizatörler, küratörler ve sanatçılar için başlı başına kaynak oluyor. İlk sergide olduğu gibi videoları yerleştikleri mekânlardan kaldırıp, kendine özgü bir seyirci kitlesi yaratan KargART bu uluslararası sergileme çeşitleriyle kitlesini bağımsız ve kaliteli işler üreten birey ve grupları bir araya getirerek büyütmeyi amaçlıyor. Tüm kurallardan, kısıtlamalardan ve konsept yaratma endişesinden sanatçıları sıyırarak sadece önemli bir sanat dalı olan “Video”yu yücelten sergilerin bu seneki konsepti de geçen sezonu aratmayan yeni anlayışlarla konsepte karşı duruşunu ve özgürlüğünü Irmak Arkman ve sanatçı Gözde İlkin ‘in organizasyon ve kürasyonuyla devam ettirmeyi amaçlıyor.

1. Kargart Toplu Video Gösterimleri

Video-art sergisini düzenlerken konseptini KargART’ın kendi duruşu ve dokusundan alan sergi, kâr amaçsız, alternatif bir kurum olması, sanatı ve sanatın sürecini yaşatmaya ve sergilemeye çalışması ve “karşı kıyının” bu alanda odak noktası olması nedeniyle, konseptini “Karşı” olarak belirledi. Yani İstanbul açısından düşündüğümüzde Taksim merkez noktasını kırmak, genel olarak düşündüğümüzde Amerika ve Avrupa’da gelişmiş bu sanat türünü Asya’ya taşıma ilkesini üzerine aldı. Bunu yaparken sadece “video’”yu ortaya çıkarmak amacıyla konsept karşıtı (anti-konsept) işleri sergileyerek özgür bir yaratım alanı kurmayı hedefleyerek video ve havza adına “Karşı” Konsept dedi.
İki bölümden oluşan serginin, İlk bölümü, yerel ve uluslararası sanatçılardan oluşurken; ikincisi ise Kuzey Ülkeleri’nde yapılan video-art’ı mercek altına almayı amaçlayan Malmö Art Academy öğrencilerinin işlerinin sergilendiği bölüm olarak yerini aldı. Yurt içinden Eser Selen, Zeren Göktan, Ethem Özgüven, Gül Kozacıoğlu, Gözde İlkin, Güneş Terkol, Güçlü Öztekin, İbrahim Cansızoğlu, Burcu Yağcıoğlu, Tuğçe Di Lara Kurtoğlu katılırken network üzerinden KargART bünyesince ortaklaşa çalışmalara başladığımız uluslararası bağımsız sanatçılar ise Amerika’dan Jennifer L. Porter ve Kevin Evensen; Yunanlı Performans sanatçısı Evengelia Basdeski; Sırbistan-Montenegro doğumlu Nevena Popovic; Alex Waldman&Vandad Kashefi serginin ilk bölümünü oluşturdu. Organizasyona toplam 10 işle katılan Malmö Art Academy, Malmö’ den katılımcılar ise Ingrid Koslung, Anü Ramdas, Kevin Murphy, Jose Luis Martinat, Tamar Guimaraes & Nanna Debois Buhl, Jee Eun Kim, Karlotta Blöndal, Maj Hassager ve Mathias Kristersson olarak belirlendi. Serginin organizasyon kısmını ise Malmö Art Academy Bölümü organizasyon ve kürasyonunda Övül Durmuşoğlu desteğiyle, Irmak Arkman tarafından gerçekleştirildi
Değişik ülke, kültür, formasyon ve disiplinlerden katılan sanatçıların kısa videodan uzun formata, şiir videosundan performans videosuna, animasyon ve audio - visual çalışmalara kadar uzanan bir yelpaze sunan KargART, “Video-ART Sergilemeleri”ne bu alana ilgi duyan, iş üreten, bir sanat dalı olarak video çalışmalarını inceleyen ya da sadece merak eden seyircileriyle belirlenen 8 seans içerisinde film gösterimi şeklinde organize etti.




2. KargART Video Festivali

Konsept

Yurtiçi ve yurtdışından birçok sanatçının katıldığı 1. KargART Toplu Video Sergilemeleri yerini bu sene yine şubat ayında düzenlenecek bir video festivaline bırakıyor. Yani tek kanaldan ardarda gösterilen videolar, bu sene sanatçı Gözde İlkin’in de katılımıyla bir sergi düzenine kavuşuyor. Konsept olarak geçen seneki duruşunu benimseyerek “konsept” belirtmeden yoluna devam eden serginin hedefleri ise: sanatçıları sergi mekanları ve sanat galerilerinin kıstlamalarından sıyırarak özgürce işlerini sergileyebilecekleri ve diğer sanatçılarla eşit koşullarda hissedecekleri bir alan yaratmak; “videonun güncel sanattaki açılımlarından örnekler sunarak bu üretim alanındaki yeni tartışmalar için İstanbul’da bir platform hazırlamak” ve “tipik bir sanat galerisi formatının dışında kalarak; videonun galerinin, beyaz kübün sınırlarının dışına çıkarak farklı bir sunum kazanabileceğini göstermek” ; yerel sanatçılar ve yurtdışından sanatçıların katılımıyla hem Türk video sanatçılarına hem de takipçilerine alternatif bir yol sunmak. Kısa videolar, uzun formatlar, animasyonlar, audio videolar, yerleştirmeler, performans videoları, dökümantasyonlar, şiir videoları...kısacası 2. KargART Video Festivali’nin sınırı sizsiniz.
Ayrıca düzenlediği festivaller ve gösterimlerle performans sanatları alanında önemli bir yere sahip olan KargART, videoyla ilgilenen performans sanatçıları ve plastik sanatlarda iş üreten sanatçılara canlı performans yapma olanağı sunuyor ve İstanbul’un geçerli kültür merkezi Taksim’in dışında kanal açan ve Kadıköy’de kendine özgü yeni bir sanatsal üretim merkezi kuran mekan, Kadıköy’ün ve Kadife Sokak’ın yüzünü yansıtan ve/veya burada yaşayıp iş üreten sanatçıları da destek veriyor.
Sanatçı çerçevesi yurtiçinden ve yurtdışından profesyonel ve amatör sanatçılardır. Sanatçılardan beklenen işler ise mekana yerleştirilebilir ve genel belirlenmiş konseptlerin dışında, anlattığımız amaçlara uygun olarak seçilecektir.


Katılım Koşulları

- Katılmak isteyen sanatçılar, videolarını posta yoluyla verilen adrese göndermek veya KargART yöneticilerine ya da sergi organizatörlerine teslim etmek zorundadırlar.
- Videoların dvd formatına aktarılmış olması gerekmektedir.
- Cvlerini, videoların kısa tanıtım yazılarını ve yüksek çözünürlükte görsellerini bize ulaştırmayan katılımcıların işleri sergilenmeyecektir.
- Canlı performans veya yerleştirme ile sergiye katılmak isteyenlerin projelerini detaylı anlatan ve mekan içinde istedikleri gereklilikleri belirten bir döküman hazırlamaları istenmektedir.

2nd KargART Video Festival

About Us

KargART, one of the primary non-profit culture and art centers in Istanbul with its interdisciplinary structure, is organizing the second KargART Video Exhibition. The organization is working hard to instill the concept and structure of “alternative art center” in every respect; and this vibrant structure is providing organizers, curators and artists working in the very modern and digital art form of video with a whole new basis. As in the first exhibition, KargArt is dislocating the videos from where they were installed and creating an audience of its own. With an international outlook, it is aiming to bring individuals and groups producing independent and high quality works together and enlarge its audience in so doing. Ridding its artists from all rules, limitations and concerns about “creating concepts”, the exhibition seeks to uphold “video” as an important art form and nothing else. This year, the exhibition will continue its anti-conceptual stance and freedom under the organization and curation of Irmak Arkman and Gözde İlkin.

1st Kargart Video Exhibition

The exhibition derived its concept from the stance and structure of KargART: since KargART is a non-profit, alternative organization dedicated to exhibiting art and its creation process and the locus of the “opposite shore” in these regards, the concept of the exhibition was “opposite”. It undertook the mission to overcome the domination of Taksim as a center for arts in Istanbul in particular and to transport an art form developed in Europe and US to an Asian context in general. The exhibition displayed anti-conceptual works to uphold “video” in its purest form and create an independent space for artistic production: oppose concept in the name of video and in the name of region!
The exhibition consisted of two parts. The first comprised of local and international artists while the second focused on the works of Malmö Art Academy students as an inquiry into video-art in Nordic countries. The local artist were Eser Selen, Zeren Göktan, Ethem Özgüven, Gül Kozacıoğlu, Gözde İlkin, Güneş Terkol, Güçlü Öztekin, İbrahim Cansızoğlu, Burcu Yağcıoğlu, Tuğçe Di Lara Kurtoğlu; while the international independent artists that we started collaborating on-line included Jennifer L. Porter and Kevin Evensen from USA, Greek performance artist Evengelia Basdeski, Nevena Popovic of Montenegro and Alex Waldman&Vandad Kashefi. These together made up the first part of the exhibition. The contributers from Malmö Art Academy were Ingrid Koslung, Anü Ramdas, Kevin Murphy, Jose Luis Martinat, Tamar Guimaraes & Nanna Debois Buhl, Jee Eun Kim, Karlotta Blöndal, Maj Hassager and Mathias Kristersson. The organization of the exhibition was realized by Irmak Arkman with the support of Övül Durmuşoğlu in the organization and curation of the Malmö Art Academy section.
1st KargART Video-ART Exhibition presented works over a wide spectrum ranging from short videos to animation and audio-visual works by artists from various countries, backgrounds and disciplines. These were displayed 8 times as film screenings for everyone interested in video-art.






2nd KargART Video Festival

Consept

This year, 1st KargArt Video Exhibition realized with the contribution of several local and international artists, is yielding its place to a video festival –again to be organized in February. Videos screened one after the other from a single channel will acquire an exhibition structure with the contribution of the artist Gözde İlkin. The exhibition will continue its anti-conceptual stance and name no definite concept for this year. The aims of the exhibition are: freeing the artists from the limitations of exhibition places and art galleries and providing them with a space where they can exhibit their works freely and feel themselves on equal basis with other artists; “creating a platform for new discussions in the area of video production by exhibiting examples of contemporary video art”; “to prove that the video can move beyond the gallery, the white cube and acquire a new form of presentation by way of remaining outside of the typical art gallery format”; to provide an alternative path to Turkish video artists with an international approach. Short videos, long formats, animations, audio-videos, installations, performance videos, documentations, video poems, etc: in short, you are the limit of the 2nd KargART Video Festival.
KargART also occupies an important place in the performance arts scene in Istanbul with the festivals and independent performances it organized. It is providing performance artists interested in video and artists producing works in plastic arts wit the opportunity of doing live performances. As a new center of artistic production in opposition to the cultural center of Istanbul, Taksim, and peculiar to Kadıköy, the organization also supports artists who reflect Kadıköy and/or Kadife Street and/or who live and produce here.
The exhibition is open to all professional and amateur artist be they local or from abroad. The works should be installable to the exhibition space and be outside mainstream concepts.


Application Requirements

- The artists willing to contribute are obligated to deliver their videos either by mail (to the below address) or personally to KargART directors or exhibition coordinators.
- The videos should be transferred into DVD format.
- The works of the artists who fail to deliver us their CVs, short introductory notes about their works and high resolution visual material will not be exhibited.
- Those willing to contribute by a live performance or an installation should submit a detailed document concerning the details of their projects and the facilities they will need.
